The tin coating — what does it add compared to uncoated HSS drills?

The tin coating (TiN bronze) reduces friction between the drill bit and the material by 20–30% — less heat, slightly longer lifespan on wood and aluminum. On steel, the difference compared to bare HSS is minimal. The coating is visible as a golden/bronze color. It does not indicate carbide or CBN — it is a standard HSS drill bit with a surface coating.
