Frequently asked questions

What material is this corundum grinding wheel Ø 150 mm K36 used for?

Corundum grinding wheels (Al₂O₃) are for unalloyed steel, structural steels S235/S355, HSS tool steels, iron, brass. K36 is suitable for aggressive roughing: rapid material removal on mild steel, iron, and hard metals. Coarse grit — produces visible scratches that need to be blended with finer grit. Do not use on tungsten carbide (HM) — corundum does not effectively work carbide and wears quickly. For HM, only use SDC or CBN diamond grinding wheels.

Is this grinding wheel compatible with my bench grinder?

Check the outer diameter (150 mm), thickness, and bore hole before purchase — they must exactly match the machine's specifications. Also check the maximum peripheral speed of the grinding wheel (indicated in m/s) against the machine's spindle speed. Never mount a grinding wheel with a maximum speed lower than the machine's operating speed. Customer support in Italian available.

How do you dress a corundum grinding wheel when it becomes clogged?

With a single-point diamond dresser: rest the dresser on the machine's support, slowly bring the rotating wheel closer, and slide the diamond transversally across the wheel's face with light feed. Dressing exposes new abrasive grains and removes clogged bond. Repeat whenever the wheel loses efficiency or vibrates during use.
