Frequently Asked Questions

What material is this corundum grinding wheel Ø 250 mm K220 used for?

Corundum (Al₂O₃) grinding wheels are for unalloyed steel, structural steels S235/S355, HSS tool steels, iron, brass. The K220 is suitable for finishing sharpening on HSS tools — it produces a finer edge than coarser grits. Do not use on tungsten carbide (HM) — corundum does not effectively work carbide and wears quickly. For HM, use only SDC or CBN diamond wheels.

Is this grinding wheel compatible with my bench grinder?

Check the outer diameter (250 mm), thickness, and bore hole before purchasing — they must exactly match the machine's specifications. Also, check the maximum peripheral speed of the grinding wheel (indicated in m/s) against the machine's spindle speed. Never mount a grinding wheel with a maximum speed lower than the machine's operating speed. Customer support in Italian available.

How do you dress a corundum grinding wheel when it clogs?

With a single-point diamond dresser: place the dresser on the machine's rest, slowly bring the rotating wheel closer, and slide the diamond transversally across the face of the wheel with light feed. Dressing exposes new abrasive grains and removes clogged binder. Repeat whenever the wheel loses efficiency or vibrates during use.
