Studs and T-nuts are used in the T-slots of the work table of milling machines, grinding machines and drilling tables for securing vises, fixtures and workpieces. The 16 mm width must exactly match the width of the T-slots of your machine — slots of different widths require different sized studs. The M14 thread indicates the screw of the upper nut.
How many studs are needed to securely fasten a milling vice?
A milling vice is secured with at least 2 studs on opposite or parallel slots — one on each side. For heavy vises (over 15 kg) or operations that generate high lateral forces, use 4 studs (two on each side). The tightening torque must be uniform on all studs to prevent the vice from tilting under load.
