What is a base jaw and what is its purpose compared to a complete jaw?

The base body (or base jaw) is the lower part of the top jaw system — it slides into the chuck guides and receives the top insert (the actual jaw). The base body is purchased when you only want to replace the worn lower part or when you want to build a customized clamping system by mounting specific inserts (soft, hardened, special profile) on a standard base body. The base body alone does not clamp — it requires the corresponding top insert.

Is this base body Ø 3282 mm compatible with my chuck?

PS3 Series: base body for 3-jaw chucks with PS mounting — check compatibility with your chuck. The Ø 3282 mm size indicates the diameter of the chuck for which it is designed — not interchangeable between different sizes. Also check that the number of fixing bolts on the base body matches that of the chuck.

Are the top inserts (top jaws) purchased separately?

Yes — the base body is designed to accommodate the top inserts of the STJ, TJ, DSTJ, DTJ series corresponding to the same size and mounting. The inserts are purchased and replaced independently of the base body. Original spare parts available with 3–5 working days shipping. Customer support available in Italian.
