Who uses the SBS 700 and for what
The Bernardo SBS 700 is a benchtop circular saw blade sharpener: it reconditions CV steel blades and HW/Widia carbide blades from Ø 80 to 700 mm instead of sending them out for sharpening or replacing them. A 60-tooth HW blade of Ø 250 mm costs 80–200 euros; sharpening it with the SBS 700 takes 10–20 minutes. At 20 kg and 230V, it can be placed on any carpentry bench or workshop. The diamond grinding wheel included as standard works with both CV and HW blades without changing tools. In Krollit's customers' workshops, it is used by carpenters, window manufacturers, and maintenance workshops that regularly use circular saw blades.
Who is the Bernardo SBS 700 for?
| Profile |
Compatibility |
Reason |
| Passionate hobbyist |
Adequate |
20 kg, 230V: suitable for advanced hobbyists who frequently use circular saws. ROI depends on blade usage frequency. |
| Carpentry / Window manufacturer |
Ideal |
Blades up to Ø 700 mm in steel and carbide: covers the entire range of standard circular saw blades in professional carpentry. |
| Industrial production |
Adequate |
For high volumes or blades over Ø 700 mm, consider the SBS 1000 (up to Ø 1,000 mm). |
Not suitable for: blades over Ø 700 mm (consider SBS 1000); blades with damaged or broken teeth (require professional sharpening); intensive industrial use on hundreds of blades per month.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between SBS 700 and SBS 1000?
The SBS 700 sharpens blades up to Ø 700 mm (20 kg); the SBS 1000 sharpens blades up to Ø 1,000 mm (23 kg). They have the same Ø 125 mm diamond grinding wheel, the same power (180 W), and the same power supply (230V). The SBS 700 is sufficient for the vast majority of standard carpentry blades; the SBS 1000 is necessary for large blades used on gantry panel saws and cutting centers.
Does the included diamond grinding wheel sharpen both CV and HW blades?
Yes. The Ø 125 mm diamond grinding wheel included as standard is suitable for both CV steel blades and HW/Widia tungsten carbide blades. There is no need to change the grinding wheel between the two types of blades. For CV blades, a corundum wheel is sufficient, but the diamond wheel works on both.
How many teeth can be sharpened in an hour?
With the SBS 700, a trained operator sharpens an average of 30–50 HW teeth per hour, depending on wear. A 60-tooth blade requires approximately 60–90 minutes. CV steel teeth are faster: 60–80 teeth/hour.
Are spare grinding wheels available?
Yes. Original Bernardo replacement diamond grinding wheels for the SBS range are available with 3–5 working day shipping.
Does the SBS 700 also sharpen blades with angled teeth (blades for aluminum)?
Yes. The rotation of the blade holder (35° left / 45° right) and the tilt of the grinding unit (±20°) allow for reproducing the original geometry of the teeth, even on blades with special geometries for aluminum, PVC, and non-ferrous materials. Check the original tooth angle before proceeding.
