Who uses the FS 2450 × 1.2 and for what

The Bernardo FS 2450 × 1.2 is a foot shear for manual cutting of thin sheet metal in large formats. The foot control leaves both hands free to hold and guide the sheet during cutting—a substantial ergonomic advantage compared to lever shears for 2,450 mm formats. Weighing 550 kg, it has the stable structure needed to maintain straight cutting precision over its entire length without bending. No electrical power is required: ideal for workshops without three-phase power that cut sheet metal by hand. In Krollit's customer workshops, it is used by tinsmiths, artisanal sheet metal workers, and metal roofing manufacturers.

Who the Bernardo FS 2450 × 1.2 is for

Profile Compatibility Reason
Hobbyist Not suitable 550 kg: professional fixed machine, not suitable for hobby use.

Intensive industrial production Adequate For continuous high-volume production, consider motorized MTR shears with NC backgauge.

Not suitable for: sheets over 1.2 mm; high-volume series production; hobby use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the advantage of foot control over a lever?

With foot control, both hands remain free to hold and guide the sheet during cutting—crucial for 2,450 mm formats where the sheet is wide and heavy. With a lever shear, one hand must operate the lever while the other holds the sheet, making control difficult on large formats. The foot pedal also allows for more gradual adjustment of the downforce.

What is the thickness for aluminum and stainless steel?

For aluminum, the capacity increases to approximately 1.7–1.9 mm. For AISI 304 stainless steel, it reduces to approximately 0.8 mm. Check for specific alloys.

Are the blades replaceable?

Yes. Original Bernardo replacement blades are available with 3–5 working days shipping.

Is electrical power required?

No. The FS 2450 × 1.2 is completely manual—no motor, no cables. Suitable for workshops without three-phase power.

How much space is needed in the workshop?

Footprint 2,770 × 1,900 × 1,050 mm. For sheet handling, at least 2.5 m of free space is needed in front of and behind the machine.
