Bernardo Radial Drill RD 1600 x 60 NC Vario – NC Technology, Servo Feed and Touchscreen Control
The Bernardo RD 1600 x 60 NC Vario radial drill is an advanced industrial machine, designed for professional drilling, counterboring, reaming, and tapping operations up to M45. Thanks to the NC control with touchscreen, all settings such as speed, drilling depth, and feeds can be adjusted intuitively and precisely.
The spindle is servo-assisted for constant and controlled feeding, while the speed is continuously variable (38–2000 rpm) with digital readout. The robust structure with a 1250 mm radial arm and reinforced column ensures stability and absence of vibrations even under heavy loads.
The arm and head are adjustable with hydraulic clamps, while the counterweight on the spindle ensures optimal balance. Included as standard: cooling pump, adjustable guard, lifting motor, inverter, LED light, and large box table.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a radial drill and when is it needed compared to a pillar drill?
In a pillar drill, the workpiece moves to center the drill bit over the hole. In a radial drill, it's the spindle that moves: the radial arm translates along the column (height) and rotates around it (angle), positioning the spindle exactly over the drilling point on fixed, heavy workpieces that are not easily moved. It's the choice for large workpieces, metal fabrication, and operations on already assembled machines.
Is the radial arm motorized or manual?
It depends on the model. Basic versions of the RD series have manual arm movement with screw clamping. NC or Vario versions may have Z-axis motorization. Check the model specifications in the technical table.
What is the purpose of right/left (R/L) spindle rotation?
Left (L) rotation allows the use of left-hand milling cutters and the loosening of left-hand threaded screws. It is also useful for manual tapping operations where advancement (right) and retraction (left) are alternated to break the chip.
Spare parts and assistance available?
Original Bernardo spare parts available with 3–5 business days shipping. Italian customer support available.
How much space is needed for installation?
The rotation radius of the arm determines the minimum operating area. Leave free space equal to the arm's radius on all sides of the column. For machines over 500 kg, coordinate with Krollit for the necessary unloading equipment.
