Bernardo Radial Drill RD 2500 x 80 Vario – Powerful and Versatile
The Bernardo RD 2500 x 80 Vario radial drill is a high-capacity industrial machine, designed for demanding operations on large workpieces. With a drilling capacity of up to Ø 80 mm and tapping up to M60, it combines rigidity, precision, and versatility thanks to electronic speed control with digital readout.
The ground and torsion-free column, the radial arm with hardened and polished guides, and the independent hydraulic clamps (arm, head, and column) ensure stability and vibration-free machining. The integrated counterweight on the spindle ensures optimal balance during use.
The two-range gearbox (30–220 / 200–1400 rpm) and 8 automatic feeds (0.06–1.38 mm/rev) allow for suitable adjustment for every application. The oversized 2500 x 1250 mm base and the 850 x 580 mm box table offer a wide clamping area for bulky workpieces. Standard equipment includes: inverter, coolant pump, adjustable guard, LED light, and hydraulic motor.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a radial drill and when is it needed compared to a pillar drill?
In a pillar drill, the workpiece moves to center the drill bit on the hole. In a radial drill, the spindle moves: the radial arm travels along the column (height) and rotates around it (angle), bringing the spindle exactly above the drilling point on fixed, heavy workpieces that are not easily moved. It is the choice for large workpieces, metal fabrication, and operations on already assembled machines.
Is the radial arm motorized or manual?
It depends on the model. Basic versions of the RD series have manual arm movement with screw locking. NC or Vario versions may have motorization of the Z-axis. Check the model specifications in the technical table.
What is the purpose of the spindle's right/left (R/L) rotation?
Left rotation (L) allows the use of left-hand milling cutters and loosening of left-hand threaded screws. It is also useful for manual tapping operations where advancement (right) and retraction (left) are alternated to break the chip.
Are spare parts and assistance available?
Original Bernardo spare parts available with 3–5 business day shipping. Customer service available in Italian.
How much space is needed for installation?
The rotation radius of the arm determines the minimum operating area. Leave free space equal to the arm's radius on all sides of the column. For machines over 500 kg, coordinate with Krollit for the necessary unloading equipment.
