What is the maximum thickness for aluminum and stainless steel?
The nominal thickness of 1.5 mm refers to S235 steel (400 N/mm²). For aluminum, the capacity increases by 30–50% (approx. 2.1 mm). For AISI 304 stainless steel, the capacity is reduced by 30–40% (approx. 1.0 mm).
Are the blades replaceable?
Yes. The cutting blades are replaceable when worn or damaged. Original Bernardo replacement blades available with 3–5 business day shipping.
Does it require fixed installation or is it used on a workbench?
Most Bernardo lever shears are secured to a workbench or floor with bolts. They do not require a special foundation. More compact versions can also be used in a bench vise.
Does the Bernardo Lever Shear HS 5 also cut copper and brass?
Yes. Copper and brass have lower resistance than S235 steel: the effective capacity on copper is similar to aluminum (approx. 2.1 mm). For specific alloys, contact Krollit for verification.
