Frequently Asked Questions
Does the PHMS 630 A sharpen HSS and HM knives?
Yes. The Bernardo PHMS 630 A is designed to sharpen HSS and HM (hard metal/carbide) planer knives. For HM knives, verify that the included grinding wheel is diamond or CBN – contact Krollit for the specific carbide grinding wheel.
What is the difference between PHMS 630 A and HMS 600?
The PHMS 630 A sharpens knives up to 630 mm (or two 315 mm knives simultaneously) with automatic carriage feed. The HMS 600 sharpens knives up to 620 mm (or two 310 mm knives) with manual feed. The A version of the PHMS adds automatic feed for more uniform and repeatable sharpening, reducing manual intervention.
