Description

Bernardo Pillar Drill BM 25 SB with V-belt drive and digital display

The Bernardo BM 25 SB pillar drill is a robust and precise machine, suitable for workshops and laboratories that require professional drilling up to 25 mm. It features a digital display for quill travel and an LED light that improves visibility of the work area.

Thanks to its cast iron pulleys and professional quality bearings, it ensures smooth operation and high spindle concentricity. The drilling table, with T-slots and coolant channels, can rotate 360° and be adjusted in height via a rack. The high-torque aluminum motor, compliant with IP54 standards, ensures reliable performance, while the possibility of right/left rotation expands its applications. The machine includes a keyless chuck, safety guards, and a cross laser for high precision.

Frequently Asked Questions

Belt-driven pillar drill vs. geared pillar drill: which to choose?

V-belt drills (like the Bernardo BM 25 SB) are quieter, less expensive, and have sufficient torque for drilling up to Ø 25 mm in standard steel. Geared drills (GB series) deliver higher torque at low speeds — necessary for deep boring, large diameter tapping, and drilling hard materials over Ø 30 mm. For standard drilling up to Ø 25 mm, belt drive is the correct choice.

Up to what diameter can the Bernardo BM 25 SB drill in steel?

Nominal capacity Ø 25 mm in S235 steel with HSS drill bit. In AISI 304 stainless steel, capacity is reduced by 30–40% — use specific drill bits for stainless steel and reduced speed with coolant. In aluminum, capacity increases by 30%. For holes over Ø 20 mm in steel, always use the lowest available speed and controlled manual feed.

How to choose the correct speed for the material?

Optimal peripheral speed: mild steel 15–25 m/min, stainless steel 8–15 m/min, aluminum 60–100 m/min, plastic 40–80 m/min. The formula: n (rpm) = (v × 1000) / (π × d). For Ø 10 mm drill bits in steel: 500–800 rpm. Too high a speed burns the cutting edge; too low causes vibrations and long chips that wrap around the drill bit. The belt drive allows selection of predefined speeds — choose the one closest to the calculated optimal speed.

400 V power supply: is a special system required?

400 V three-phase — requires an industrial electrical system. Check for three-phase power and the power of the electrical panel before purchasing.

Spare parts available?
