The drill chuck is the body of the chuck that directly clamps the bits (via the 3 internal jaw mechanism and the closing nut). The arbor is the adapter that brings the chuck's short B taper into the machine's Morse taper. The drill chuck + arbor combination is the standard solution for pillar drills. For machines with a direct short taper seat (e.g., some lathes), the drill chuck mounts directly.
Short taper B 22 — what bits does this chuck accept?
The drill chuck accepts bits with a cylindrical shank within the indicated range (typically 1–16 mm or 3–16 mm depending on the model). Morse taper bits do not fit into the drill chuck — for these, arbor chucks are needed directly without a chuck. Check the clamping range in the technical table for your model.
