Frequently asked questions
PO4 4-jaw chuck Ø 160 mm — when to choose it over the PO3 3-jaw chuck?
The PO4 4-jaw chuck is needed for: square, rectangular, asymmetrical, or irregular workpieces that cannot be centered with the PO3's 3 jaws. The 4 jaws are independently adjustable — each jaw moves separately to adapt to any shape. Centering takes more time (3–5 minutes with a dial indicator) compared to the self-centering PO3, but the achievable precision is higher: <0.01 mm with a dial indicator. The PO3 is faster; the PO4 is more versatile.
D4 DIN 55029 camlock mounting — how does the quick mounting work?
The D4 camlock mounting allows for chuck mounting and dismounting in less than 30 seconds: turn the locking flange a quarter turn. The cam ensures repeatability of positioning <0.01 mm with each mounting — the chuck always returns to the same angular position. Check the mounting code (D4) of your lathe before purchasing.
The included jaws — can they be reversed for external gripping?
The included kit contains rotating jaws (external gripping) and boring jaws (internal gripping). For gripping strong workpieces from the inside, boring jaws are used; for standard external gripping, rotating jaws are used. The PO4 jaws are not reversible — they are replaced with the appropriate type based on the operation. Customer support in English available.
