Frequently Asked Questions

What material is this Ø 250 mm K36 corundum grinding wheel used for?

Corundum (Al₂O₃) grinding wheels are for unalloyed steel, S235/S355 structural steels, HSS tool steels, iron, brass. The K36 is suitable for aggressive roughing: rapid material removal on mild steel, iron, and hard metals. Coarse grit — produces visible lines that need to be blended with finer grit. Do not use on tungsten carbide (HM) — corundum does not effectively work carbide and wears quickly. For HM, use only SDC or CBN diamond grinding wheels.

Is this grinding wheel compatible with my bench grinder?

Check the outer diameter (250 mm), thickness, and bore before purchasing — they must exactly match the machine's specifications. Also, check the grinding wheel's maximum peripheral speed (indicated in m/s) against the machine's spindle speed. Never mount a grinding wheel with a maximum speed lower than the machine's operating speed. Customer support available in Italian.

How do you dress a corundum grinding wheel when it gets clogged?

With a single-point diamond dresser: place the dresser on the machine's rest, slowly bring it closer to the rotating wheel, and slide the diamond across the face of the wheel with light feed. Dressing exposes new abrasive grains and removes clogged bond. Repeat whenever the grinding wheel loses efficiency or vibrates during use.
