Frequently Asked Questions
What material is this Ø 250 mm K80 corundum grinding wheel used for?
Corundum (Al₂O₃) grinding wheels are for unalloyed steel, structural steels S235/S355, HSS tool steels, iron, brass. K80 is suitable for finish sharpening HSS tools — it produces a finer edge than coarser grits. Do not use on tungsten carbide (HM) — corundum does not work carbide effectively and wears out quickly. For HM, use only SDC or CBN diamond grinding wheels.
Is this grinding wheel compatible with my bench grinder?
Check the outer diameter (250 mm), thickness, and bore hole before purchasing — they must exactly match the machine's specifications. Also, check the grinding wheel's maximum peripheral speed (indicated in m/s) against the machine's spindle speed. Never mount a grinding wheel with a maximum speed lower than the machine's operating speed. Customer service available in Italian.
How do you dress a corundum grinding wheel when it gets clogged?
With a single-point diamond dresser: place the dresser on the machine's rest, slowly bring the rotating wheel closer, and slide the diamond across the face of the wheel with light pressure. Dressing exposes new abrasive grains and removes clogged binder. Repeat whenever the wheel loses efficiency or vibrates during use.
