ER25 collet chuck — what is it used for and for what diameter range?
The ER25 collet chuck is mounted on the lathe (flange diameter D — mm) and accommodates ER25 collets for clamping tools or workpieces with a shank from 1–16 mm. ER collets guarantee superior concentricity to the standard self-centering chuck — TIR typically <0.003 mm — necessary for boring, grinding and precision turning. Each ER25 collet covers a range of 1 mm (e.g. the ER25 10 collet covers 9–10 mm).
Are ER collets interchangeable between ER chucks of the same type?
Yes — ER25 collets are standardized: an ER25 collet from any manufacturer works with any ER25 collet chuck. The ER system is the most widespread international standard for clamping tools on machining centers and lathes. Purchase collets of the exact size of the tool shank — do not use collets of approximate size. Customer support available in Italian.
