Reversible soft jaws Ø 500 mm — what do "soft jaws" and "reversible" mean?
"Soft jaws" indicates that the jaw is composed of two parts: the base body (hard, in hardened steel) which moves in the chuck guides, and the top insert (the actual jaw, in soft or hardened steel) screwed onto the base body. The inserts can be replaced separately when they wear out without changing the base body. "Reversible" means that the same insert can be mounted in two opposite orientations — for internal gripping or external gripping — without changing the jaw.
For Ø 500 mm — what is the clamping diameter range with these jaws?
Reversible soft jaws for Ø 500 mm chucks clamp workpieces within a diameter range that depends on the jaw travel and the mounted configuration. As a general reference, the jaws cover a range of approximately ±30–40% of the nominal chuck diameter. For very small diameters (workpieces <Ø 20 mm on a Ø 500 mm chuck), consider smaller jaws or workpiece collets. Customer support available in Italian.
Can the soft inserts be replaced separately?
Yes — this is the main advantage of the soft jaw construction. When the top inserts are worn out or when you want to mount inserts of a different material (e.g., soft inserts for delicate workpieces), you unscrew the fastening screws and replace only the inserts without having to buy the complete set of jaws.
