Frequently asked questions

DOJ Ø 250 mm jaws — what does DOJ mean and how do they differ from DIJ jaws?

DOJ (Direct Outer Jaw) indicates external gripping jaws: the teeth grip from the outside of the workpiece diameter, clamping inwards. These are the standard jaws for clamping bars, shafts, cylinders, and compactly shaped parts. DIJ jaws do the opposite — internal gripping on hollow parts. The same machine can use both DIJ and DOJ depending on the workpiece, as long as the chuck size is compatible.

DK12 series — compatibility with my chuck?

DK12 mounting (12 DIN 6350 bolts). Check your chuck's mounting type before purchase — DK11 and DK12 are not interchangeable. The Ø 250 mm diameter must match the chuck size. Customer support in Italian available.

Hard DOJ jaws vs. soft jaws — when to choose one over the other?

Hard DOJ jaws (hardened) are for general use on steel, cast iron, and rough aluminum — they clamp forcefully without deforming but leave marks on finished parts. Soft jaws (mild steel) do not leave marks on already machined parts and can be turned in situ for maximum concentricity. For finishing operations on already machined parts: soft jaws. For roughing and production on raw parts: hard jaws.
