Precision comparator watch 10 x 0.01 mm

The DIN 878 dial indicator with a 10 mm range and 0.01 mm resolution is the standard tool for: checking lathe spindle runout (<0.02 mm for normal use), verifying the flatness of work surfaces and guides, checking the perpendicularity of workpieces in the vise, measuring axis play, verifying intermediate dimensions during turning without removing the workpiece. It is not an absolute measuring instrument — it measures dimensional differences relative to a reference.

Using a standard 8 mm stem that fits into the magnetic stand or column stand (sold separately). On the lathe: fix the stand to the slide or bed with the magnet, rest the probe on the diameter to be measured. On the milling machine: fix it in the spindle via an 8 mm stem and use it as a "centering gauge" to center workpieces in the vise.
