Description

Güde GRH 2.5/460AL Hydraulic Trolley Jack – 2500 kg, lightweight aluminium, double cylinder

The Güde GRH 2.5/460AL hydraulic trolley jack is a special version of the 2.5-tonne line, featuring a partial aluminium construction that reduces the total weight to just 25.4 kg (compared with 29 kg for the steel 2.5/510L model). The designation “AL” means exactly this: aluminium. The result is a jack with 2500 kg capacity, double speed thanks to the double-cylinder system, and reduced weight that still makes it easy to move between workshop stations.

Unlike the 2.5/510L model, which is very heavy at 29 kg and semi-stationary, the GRH 2.5/460AL maintains better mobility thanks to aluminium without sacrificing lifting capacity. The maximum height of 465 mm is well balanced, compared with 508 mm on the 510L model, and is sufficient for most automotive operations. The double cylinder ensures double lifting speed compared with single-cylinder models – ideal for moderate to intensive cycles, 50–150 lifts/month.

Mechanics and design:

  • 2500 kg capacity – Static lifting capacity up to 2500 kg. Suitable for commercial vans, heavy SUVs, pickups and sports cars with additional load up to 2500 kg. Same capacity as the 2.5/510L model
  • 100 mm minimum height – Low height for low and sports cars. Allows lifting of lowered cars under 110 mm without obstruction
  • 465 mm maximum height – Balanced height, compared with 508 mm on the 510L model. Sufficient for full underbody access on standard 1500–2500 kg vehicles. It does not reach the 508 mm of the 510L, but it is adequate for most cycles
  • 365 mm lifting travel – Balanced lifting travel, compared with 428 mm on the 2.5/510L model. Allows full lifting from 100 mm to 465 mm
  • Aluminium construction – Aluminium elements reduce the overall weight to 25.4 kg, compared with 29 kg for the 2.5/510L model and 58 kg for the 800HD model. Aluminium is lightweight, corrosion-resistant and maintains structural rigidity. It is not a safety component – it is a material choice that reduces weight without compromising capacity
  • Double cylinder – System with 2 synchronised cylinders increases lifting speed by 50–100% compared with a single cylinder. During moderate cycles, 50–150/month, double speed accelerates work shifts without overload
  • 4 wheels, 2 swivel + 2 fixed – Agile mobility between workshop stations. This configuration stabilises the jack during pumping on heavy 2500 kg loads
  • 110 mm platform – Large diameter for even load distribution over a wide surface. Integrated rubber protection prevents damage to the vehicle underbody
  • 25.4 kg weight – Lightweight compared with professional models, 29 kg for the 2.5/510L and 58 kg for the 800HD. Still transportable between stations – aluminium reduces weight while maintaining capacity
  • Pump foam protection – Protection on the pumping handle reduces fatigue during repeated cycles
  • TÜV-GS certification – German safety certification for professional use

Who chooses it:

  • Automotive workshops requiring 2500 kg capacity – Maintenance on vans, heavy SUVs and pickups. 2500 kg capacity is essential. Aluminium reduces weight, improving handling compared with equivalent heavy models
  • Workshops with moderate to intensive cycles – 50–150 lifts/month on mixed vehicles. The double cylinder accelerates cycles without overload. Aluminium keeps the jack mobile between stations
  • Service centres with mixed light-heavy fleets – Management of 1200–2500 kg vehicles with moderate underbody access requirements, where 465 mm is sufficient. The 25.4 kg weight is an advantage compared with heavier models
  • Workshops needing a balance between capacity and portability – They do not need the 508 mm maximum height of the 2.5/510L, and 29 kg is too heavy. The 2.5/460AL model offers the right balance: full capacity + double speed + lightweight aluminium

Who chooses it in Italy

Automotive workshops working on vans and heavy SUVs – Maintenance on Fiat Ducato, Mercedes Sprinter, BMW X5 and Range Rover vehicles up to 2500 kg. 2500 kg capacity is essential. Aluminium reduces overall weight, improving ergonomics during repeated cycles.

Service centres with moderate to intensive cycles – 80–150 lifts/month on mixed light-heavy fleets. The double cylinder accelerates cycles and reduces waiting time between lifts. Aluminium maintains mobility between stations.

Workshops choosing balance – They do not require 508 mm height, as 460 mm is sufficient, and they do not tolerate 29 kg weight, making the 25.4 kg aluminium design an advantage. The 2.5/460AL model is the smart compromise between maximum capacity and portability.

Who the Güde GRH 2.5/460AL hydraulic trolley jack is suitable for

Profile Suitable? Reason
Automotive workshop requiring 2500 kg capacity Ideal 2500 kg capacity covers heavy vans and SUVs. The double cylinder accelerates cycles. The 25.4 kg aluminium construction is a portability advantage compared with the 2.5/510L.
Service centre with moderate to intensive cycles Ideal 50–150 lifts/month on mixed fleets. The 465 mm height is sufficient. Double speed reduces time. Reduced weight improves mobility.
Workshop choosing capacity-portability balance Ideal No need for 508 mm height, as 460 mm covers 95% of cycles. The 25.4 kg aluminium weight compared with 29 kg steel is a significant advantage. Smart investment.

Not suitable for:
Cycles exclusively on low sports cars, as the 100 mm height is borderline for ultra-low cars – use the 330L model; cases where the 465 mm maximum height is insufficient – use the 2.5/510L at 508 mm; occasional cycles where the investment in 2500 kg capacity is not justified.

Frequently asked questions

What is the advantage of aluminium in the GRH 2.5/460AL compared with the steel 2.5/510L?

Reduced weight: 25.4 kg versus 29 kg, saving 3.6 kg. Aluminium is lightweight, corrosion-resistant and maintains structural rigidity. The advantage is portability – the jack remains transportable between workshop stations. It is not a safety compromise – the 2500 kg capacity is identical.

Is the 465 mm maximum height compared with 508 mm on the 2.5/510L a significant loss?

It depends on use. 465 mm is sufficient for 95% of automotive cycles, providing full underbody access on 1500–2500 kg cars. Only if frequent work requires height over 480 mm should you consider the 2.5/510L at 508 mm. For most uses, 465 mm is adequate.

Does the double cylinder really double the lifting speed?

Yes. Two synchronised cylinders distribute the load over larger sections – lifting speed is doubled compared with a single cylinder. During moderate cycles, 80+ lifts/month, double speed reduces overall shift time, which is important for operational efficiency.

Can I lift low/sports cars with the 100 mm minimum height?

Yes, but only marginally. Typical sports cars have a ride height of 85–100 mm. The GRH 2.5/460AL, with a 100 mm minimum height, fits, but with minimal safety margin. For ultra-low cars under 90 mm, prefer the 2/330L model, with 85 mm minimum height. The GRH 2.5/460AL is designed for standard vehicles, not sports cars.

Is the GRH 2.5/460AL cheaper than the 2.5/510L?

Typically yes – the premium is 10–15% lower thanks to the reduced height, 460 vs 508 mm, and partial aluminium construction. If 460 mm height is sufficient for your cycles, the 2.5/460AL is more cost-effective than the 2.5/510L while maintaining 2500 kg capacity.

Is aluminium strong enough for intensive cycles over 100 lifts/month?

Yes. Aluminium is used only for non-structural components, such as the bodywork and support parts. The load-bearing structure is steel, so resistance is identical to the 2.5/510L model. Aluminium does not compromise durability – it only reduces overall weight.

What maintenance does the GRH 2.5/460AL require?

Same as the 2.5/510L model. Monthly inspection: check oil pressure, integrity of the double cylinders, safety valve operation and handle. Oil replacement every 12 months with moderate cycles, 50/month, or every 6 months with intensive cycles, over 150/month. Lubricate the wheels every 6 months.

Is the GRH 2.5/460AL suitable for workshops working on both low cars and heavy vans?

Partially. The 100 mm height is borderline for low/sports cars, where the 85 mm 330L model is safer. The 2500 kg capacity covers heavy vans and SUVs well. If cycles are mixed, 50% low cars and 50% heavy vehicles, consider the 2.5/460AL more as the main solution for heavy vehicles, plus a jack stand or low-profile jack for low cars.
