Using a non-compliant hoist for lifting personnel is a violation of accident prevention regulations and puts the operator's safety at risk.

The GEKZ 300 is suspended by the upper hook (spare part code 1707-01012) from a supporting structure calculated to withstand at least the weight of the hoist (14.1 kg) plus the maximum load (300 kg) plus an appropriate safety factor for the use.

In practice, this means an I-beam, an HEA profile, a structural eyelet, or a suspension ring fixed to a wall, ceiling, or gantry, installed by qualified personnel. Wall brackets made of plasterboard, light shelves, or hydraulic and electrical pipes are not suitable. For workshops, the typical solution is an I-beam mounted in a truss or a dedicated gantry. The structural verification of the anchorage is the responsibility of the installer or a qualified technician.

The GEKZ 300 has a mechanical brake inside the gearbox: in case of power failure or release of the pendant button, the load remains suspended in its current position. It does not descend due to gravity.

The brake is mechanical (not electric) and activates automatically when the motor's pull ceases. This feature allows lifting to be interrupted to reposition the load, take a break, or manage a sudden voltage drop without losing control of the lifted weight. The limit switch lever (spare part code 1707-01034) intervenes at the end of the chain to protect the motor from mechanical overload.

The chain must be visually inspected before each use and replaced at the first signs of permanent elongation, link deformation, structural oxidation, or compromised hook integrity. Replacement requires the original Güde chain, code 1707-01009, 3 m in length.

Discard criteria follow applicable standards for lifting equipment: typically, a chain should be replaced when an elongation exceeding 3% of the nominal length is detected, or when one of the links shows wear exceeding 10% of the original wire diameter.
