Frequently Asked Questions
What material is this Ø 250 mm K60 corundum grinding wheel used for?
Corundum grinding wheels (Al₂O₃) are for unalloyed steel, structural steels S235/S355, HSS tool steels, iron, brass. The K60 is suitable for sharpening HSS lathe tools, drills, chisels, and tools with moderately worn cutting edges. Do not use on tungsten carbide (HM) — corundum does not effectively work carbide and wears out quickly. For HM, use only SDC or CBN diamond grinding wheels.
Is this grinding wheel compatible with my bench grinder?
Check the outer diameter (250 mm), thickness, and bore before purchasing — they must exactly match the machine's specifications. Also, check the maximum peripheral speed of the grinding wheel (indicated in m/s) against the machine's spindle speed. Never mount a grinding wheel with a maximum speed lower than the machine's operating speed. Customer support in Italian available.
How do you dress a corundum grinding wheel when it gets clogged?
With a single-point diamond dresser: place the dresser on the machine's rest, slowly bring it closer to the rotating wheel, and slide the diamond across the face of the wheel with light advancement. Dressing exposes new abrasive grains and removes clogged bond. Repeat whenever the grinding wheel loses efficiency or vibrates during use.
