The SA 2 grinding jaw — how does it differ from the SA 1?
The SA 2 uses 1016 × 75 mm belts (longer than the SA 1's 762 mm) — 30% longer belt life on large surfaces, longer sanding plate (300 × 75 mm vs 180 mm for SA 1) for a larger contact area. The belt speed is identical (16.4 m/sec). The SA 2 is the choice for larger surfaces where the SA 1 would require too many passes; the SA 1 is more maneuverable in tight spaces.
The 1016 × 75 mm belt — what grit for steel and for wood?
On steel (coarse grinding): K36–K60. On steel (finishing): K80–K120. On wood (coarse grinding): K60–K80. On wood (finishing): K120–K180. The flat 300 × 75 mm sanding plate is optimal for flat surfaces; removing the plate provides a flexible belt for curved profiles.
