Frequently asked questions

DOJ jaws Ø 315 mm — what does DOJ mean and how do they differ from DIJ jaws?

DOJ (Direct Outer Jaw) indicates external gripping jaws: the teeth bite from the outside of the workpiece diameter, clamping inwards. These are standard jaws for clamping bars, shafts, cylinders, and compactly shaped parts. DIJ jaws do the opposite — internal gripping on hollow parts. The same machine can use both DIJ and DOJ depending on the workpiece, as long as the chuck size is compatible.

DK11 series — compatibility with my chuck?

DK11 connection (11 DIN 6350 bolts). Check the type of connection of your chuck before purchasing — DK11 and DK12 are not interchangeable. The diameter Ø 315 mm must match the chuck size. Customer service available in English.

Hard DOJ jaws vs soft jaws — when to choose one over the other?

Hard (hardened) DOJ jaws are for general use on raw steel, cast iron, and aluminum — they clamp firmly without deforming but leave marks on finished parts. Soft (mild steel) jaws do not leave marks on already machined parts and are turned in situ for maximum concentricity. For finishing operations on already machined parts: soft jaws. For roughing and production on raw parts: hard jaws.
