"Top jaws" indicates that the jaw is composed of two parts: the base body (hard, in hardened steel) that moves in the chuck's guides, and the top insert (the actual jaw, in soft or hardened steel) screwed onto the base body. The inserts can be replaced separately when they wear out without changing the base body. "Reversible" indicates that the same insert can be mounted in two opposite orientations — for internal gripping or external gripping — without changing the jaw.
For Ø 125 mm — what is the clamping diameter range for these jaws?
The reversible top jaws for a Ø 125 mm chuck clamp parts within a diameter range that depends on the jaw travel and the installed configuration. As a general reference, the jaws cover a range of approximately ±30–40% of the nominal chuck diameter. Can the top inserts be replaced separately?
Yes — this is the main advantage of the top jaw construction. When the top inserts are worn or when you want to mount inserts made of a different material (e.g., soft inserts for delicate parts), you simply unscrew the fastening screws and replace only the inserts without having to buy the complete set of jaws.
