Frequently Asked Questions

DOJ Jaws Ø 500 mm — what does DOJ mean and how do they differ from DIJ jaws?

DOJ (Direct Outer Jaw) indicates jaws for external gripping: the teeth bite from the outside of the workpiece diameter, clamping inwards. These are standard jaws for clamping bars, shafts, cylinders, and compactly shaped workpieces. DIJ jaws do the opposite — internal gripping on hollow workpieces. The same machine can use both DIJ and DOJ depending on the workpiece, as long as the chuck size is compatible.

DK12 Series — compatibility with my chuck?

DK12 attachment (12 DIN 6350 bolts). Check the attachment type of your chuck before purchase — DK11 and DK12 are not interchangeable. The Ø 500 mm diameter must match the chuck size. Customer support available in Italian.

Hard DOJ jaws vs. soft jaws — when to choose one over the other?

Hard DOJ jaws (hardened) are for general use on rough steel, cast iron, and aluminum — they clamp strongly without deforming but leave marks on finished workpieces. Soft jaws (mild steel) do not leave marks on pre-machined workpieces and can be turned in situ for maximum concentricity. For finishing operations on pre-machined parts: soft jaws. For roughing and production on rough workpieces: hard jaws.
