Frequently asked questions
DOJ jaws Ø 80 mm — what does DOJ mean and how do they differ from DIJ jaws?
DOJ (Direct Outer Jaw) indicates jaws for external gripping: the teeth grip from the outside diameter of the workpiece, clamping inwards. These are the standard jaws for clamping bars, shafts, cylinders, and compact-shaped workpieces. DIJ jaws do the opposite — internal gripping on hollow workpieces. The same machine can use both DIJ and DOJ depending on the workpiece, provided the chuck size is compatible.
DK12 series — compatibility with my chuck?
DK12 attachment (12 DIN 6350 bolts). Verify your chuck's attachment type before purchasing — DK11 and DK12 are not interchangeable. The Ø 80 mm diameter must match the chuck size. Customer support in Italian available.
Hard DOJ jaws vs. soft jaws — when to choose one over the other?
Hard DOJ jaws (hardened) are for general use on steel, cast iron, and raw aluminum — they grip strongly without deforming but leave marks on finished workpieces. Soft jaws (mild steel) do not leave marks on already machined workpieces and are turned in situ for maximum concentricity. For finishing operations on already machined workpieces: soft jaws. For roughing and production on raw workpieces: hard jaws.
