Description

We supply this blade in STANDARD and PROFI quality. The STANDARD variant is made of carbon tool steel, with a clear varnish-paint layer used as rust protection, which must be removed before the first use of this blade. The PROFI variant is made of tool steel alloy, which ensures the best durability and sharpness of the blade. The PROFI blade is oiled and hermetically sealed in foil.

Frequently asked questions

60 mm finishing planer blade — for which processing stage is it used?

This blade is for surface finishing of wood — it produces a smooth surface ready for sanding or painting with a reduced depth of cut (0.1–0.5 mm). It is the blade to use in the last pass of the planer for the final surface quality.

PROFI vs STANDARD quality — which one to choose?

The PROFI quality is made of heat-treated HSS steel — it retains its edge longer than the STANDARD version and can be sharpened multiple times before replacement. The STANDARD carbon steel is more economical but requires more frequent sharpening on hardwoods.

How and how often should this blade be sharpened?

The blade is sharpened with the Bernardo planer knife sharpener (HMS 600 or PHMS 630 A), which ensures a constant sharpening angle across the entire width of the blade. The sharpening frequency depends on the intensity of use and the type of wood: on hardwoods (oak, beech) every 2–4 weeks; on softwoods every 4–8 weeks. Signs that sharpening is needed: planed surface with burns or longitudinal streaks.
