A stretcher lengthens the outer fibers of the sheet metal: the toothed jaws bite into the sheet metal and pull it outwards, stretching the outer edge. It produces convex edges (curving outwards). A shrinker does the opposite — it compresses the edge, producing a concave curve. In bodywork and sheet metal fabrication, both are often used in sequence to correct and form curved panels.
What sheet metal thicknesses does the SS 150 stretcher work with?
Check the thickness limit in the technical table of the specific model. In general, SS machines work with steel sheets up to 1.5–2.0 mm. For aluminum, the capacity increases by 30–50%. For stainless steel, it decreases by 30–40%.
