Does this 6-piece set cover the entire stainless steel polishing cycle?
Yes — the set includes a complete 3-phase cycle: 1) Kiesolin 410 green (abrasiveness 6/10) + sisal disc for aggressive pre-polishing that removes oxidation and deep scratches. 2) Second intermediate compound for blending. 3) Final compound for mirror finish. On AISI 304 stainless steel, this cycle takes a ground surface (K120 finish) to a BA or 2B type finish in 30–60 minutes on standard flat surfaces.
Does it also work on mild steel, aluminum, and copper?
Yes — the included compounds work on mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and brass. On aluminum, Kiesolin 410 (green) is particularly effective at removing surface oxidation. For copper, the cycle is faster because the material is softer. Use separate discs for different materials — do not contaminate stainless steel discs with mild steel to avoid ferrous stains on the stainless steel.
How can overheating of stainless steel be avoided during polishing?
Keep the disc always moving — stopping at one point causes localized overheating that changes the color of the stainless steel (browning, rainbow effect). Work with light pressure and a speed of 1,200–1,800 rpm with a Ø 350 mm disc. If the surface visibly heats up, cool it with compressed air or a damp cloth before proceeding.
