SCCM 09T308 inserts have a specific geometry for turning applications. Compatible with: chisel. The HM (hard metal) tungsten carbide inserts are specific for each insert holder — the designation identifies the shape, dimensions, and cutting edge geometry. Before purchasing, verify the designation of the inserts required by your machine's insert holder.
When do you replace an insert instead of flipping it to the second cutting edge?
Reversible inserts have 2 or more cutting edges: flip the insert when the first cutting edge is worn (surface deterioration, increased vibration, burning on the workpiece). Replace the insert when all cutting edges are worn. Never reassemble a worn insert — a collapsed cutting edge produces excessive heat and can damage the insert holder.
