T31305 inserts have a specific geometry for turning applications. Compatible with: chisel. HM (carbide) tungsten carbide inserts are specific to each insert holder — the designation identifies the shape, dimensions, and cutting edge geometry. Before purchasing, check the designation of the inserts required by your machine's insert holder.
When do you replace an insert instead of turning it to the second cutting edge?
Reversible inserts have 2 or more cutting edges: turn the insert when the first cutting edge is worn (deteriorating surface, increased vibration, burning on the workpiece). Replace the insert when all cutting edges are worn. Never reassemble a worn insert — the collapsed cutting edge produces excessive heat and can damage the insert holder.
