HM inserts have a specific geometry for turning applications. Compatible with: C6 tool — check item code. HM (carbide) tungsten carbide inserts are specific for each tool holder — the designation identifies the shape, dimensions, and cutting edge geometry. Before purchasing, verify the designation of the inserts required by your machine's tool holder.
When should an insert be replaced instead of rotated to the second cutting edge?
Reversible inserts have 2 or more cutting edges: rotate the insert when the first cutting edge is worn (deteriorating surface, increased vibration, burns on the workpiece). Replace the insert when all cutting edges are worn. Never reassemble a worn insert — a collapsed cutting edge produces excessive heat and can damage the tool holder.
