Description

We supply this blade in STANDARD and PROFI quality. The STANDARD version is made of carbon tool steel; a layer of clear varnish is used as rust protection, which must be removed before the first use of this blade. The PROFI version is made of tool steel alloy, which guarantees the best durability and sharpness of the blade. The PROFI blade is oiled and hermetically sealed in foil.

Frequently Asked Questions

Narrow planer blade 27 mm — for which processing stage is it used?

This blade is for planing narrow edges, strips, and profiles with reduced width (27 mm) where a wide blade would not be controllable. The 27 mm width is specific for processing thin strips and profiles.

PROFI vs STANDARD quality — which one to choose?

The PROFI quality is made of heat-treated HSS steel — it holds its edge longer than the STANDARD version and can be sharpened multiple times before replacement. The carbon steel STANDARD is more economical but requires more frequent sharpening on hard woods.

How and how often should this blade be sharpened?

The blade is sharpened with the Bernardo planer knife sharpener (HMS 600 or PHMS 630 A), which ensures a constant sharpening angle across the entire width of the blade. The frequency of sharpening depends on the intensity of use and the type of wood: for hard woods (oak, beech) every 2–4 weeks; for soft woods every 4–8 weeks. Signs that sharpening is needed: planed surface with burns or longitudinal streaks.
