Frequently asked questions

36 mm roughing planer blade — for which processing stage is it used?

This blade is for fast roughing of wood — it removes material quickly with a non-definitive finish. Use for the first pass on rough wood or on pieces with many irregularities. After roughing, always finish with a specific blade for the final surface.

STANDARD vs PROFI quality — which one to choose?

The STANDARD quality is made of carbon steel with a transparent anti-rust coating — remove the coating before use. Cheaper than the PROFI version; suitable for occasional use or on softwoods.

How and how often should this blade be sharpened?

The blade is sharpened with the Bernardo planer knife sharpener (HMS 600 or PHMS 630 A), which ensures a constant sharpening angle across the entire width of the blade. Sharpening frequency depends on intensity of use and wood type: for hardwoods (oak, beech) every 2–4 weeks; for softwoods every 4–8 weeks. Signs that sharpening is needed: planed surface with burns or longitudinal streaks.
