Frequently asked questions

PO3 Ø 125 mm chuck — for which type of lathe and with which attachment?

The PO3 chuck is a 3-jaw self-centering steel chuck with DIN 6350 centering, direct camlock attachment DIN 55029 (D3). The D3 direct camlock attachment allows for quick mounting and dismounting of the chuck without a key — turn the flange a quarter turn to lock or unlock. Check the type of chuck attachment on your lathe (D3, D4, D6, D8…) before purchasing.

The steel version PO3 vs the cast iron version — what's the concrete difference?

The steel version PO3 is 20–30% lighter than cast iron for the same diameter — it reduces start-up/braking times and vibrations at high speeds. Steel allows for higher maximum rotational speeds than cast iron. For high-speed lathes or for those who frequently work with quick changes, the steel version is the correct choice.

The included jaw kit — what size pieces can this Ø 125 mm chuck clamp?

The Ø 125 mm chuck includes rotating jaws (for external gripping) and boring jaws (for internal gripping). As a reference: rotating jaws clamp pieces from about 5% to 60% of the chuck diameter. For very small pieces compared to the chuck, consider clamping collets; for very large pieces, consider a larger diameter chuck. Customer service available in Italian.
