Frequently Asked Questions

PO3 Ø 160 mm chuck — for which type of lathe and with which mounting?

The PO3 chuck is a 3-jaw self-centering steel chuck with DIN 6350 centering. The standard DIN 6350 bolt-on flange mounting requires tightening the fixing screws for assembly. Please check the number of holes and the bolt circle diameter of your chuck before purchase.

The PO3 steel version vs the cast iron version — what's the concrete difference?

The PO3 steel version is 20–30% lighter than cast iron for the same diameter — it reduces start-up/braking times and vibrations at high speed. Steel allows higher maximum rotational speeds than cast iron. For high-speed lathes or for those who frequently work with quick changes, the steel version is the correct choice.

The included jaw set — what size workpieces can this Ø 160 mm chuck clamp?

The Ø 160 mm chuck includes rotating jaws (for external gripping) and drilling jaws (for internal gripping). As a reference: the rotating jaws clamp workpieces from approximately 5% to 60% of the chuck diameter. For very small workpieces compared to the chuck, consider collets; for very large workpieces, consider a larger diameter chuck. English customer support available.
