Frequently asked questions

PO3 chuck Ø 160 mm — for which type of lathe and with which mounting?

The PO3 chuck is a 3-jaw self-centering steel chuck with DIN 6350 centering, direct camlock mounting DIN 55029 (D4). The D4 direct camlock mounting allows quick chuck mounting and removal without a key — the flange is rotated a quarter turn to lock or unlock. Check the type of chuck mounting on your lathe (D3, D4, D6, D8…) before purchasing.

The steel version PO3 vs. the cast iron version — what's the concrete difference?

The steel version PO3 is 20-30% lighter than cast iron for the same diameter — it reduces start-up/braking times and vibrations at high speeds. Steel allows higher maximum rotational speeds than cast iron. For high-speed lathes or for those who frequently work with quick changes, the steel version is the correct choice.

The included jaw set — what size workpieces can this Ø 160 mm chuck clamp?

The Ø 160 mm chuck includes rotating jaws (for external gripping) and boring jaws (for internal gripping). As a reference: the rotating jaws clamp workpieces from approximately 5% to 60% of the chuck diameter. For very small workpieces compared to the chuck, consider clamping collets; for very large workpieces, consider a larger diameter chuck. Customer support in Italian available.
