The micrometer measures thicknesses and external diameters with a resolution of 0.001 mm (1 μm) — 10× more precise than a standard caliper (0.01 mm). Necessary for: checking tight tolerances (h6, h5, js5), measuring shafts for bearing fits, final inspection of precision turned parts. The 0–150 mm 6-piece set covers 6 ranges of 25 mm (0–25, 25–50, 50–75, 75–100, 100–125, 125–150 mm) — each micrometer covers its range with maximum precision.
How do you calibrate a micrometer before use?
The 0–25 mm micrometer is zeroed by closing the measuring surfaces empty. The others are zeroed with the included standard gauge: place the gauge between the surfaces, close until light contact is made, and check the zero on the graduated thimble. If the zero is off, adjust using the zero-setting screw with the supplied wrench. Zero before each critical measurement session.
