What is a base jaw and what is its purpose compared to a complete jaw?

The jaw body (or base jaw) is the lower part of the top jaw system — it slides in the chuck guides and receives the upper insert (the actual jaw). The jaw body is purchased when you only want to replace the worn lower part or when you want to build a custom clamping system by mounting specific inserts (soft, hardened, special profile) on a standard jaw body. The jaw body alone does not clamp — it requires the corresponding upper insert.

Is this Ø 160 mm jaw body compatible with my chuck?

DK11 series: DIN 6350 connection with 11 bolts. Check that the chuck has this connection before purchasing. The Ø 160 mm size indicates the diameter of the chuck for which it is designed — not interchangeable between different sizes. Also check that the number of fixing bolts of the jaw body matches that of the chuck.

Are the top inserts (top jaws) purchased separately?

Yes — the jaw body is designed to accommodate the top inserts of the STJ, TJ, DSTJ, DTJ series corresponding to the same size and connection. The inserts are purchased and replaced independently of the jaw body. Original spare parts available with 3–5 working day shipping. Customer support available in Italian.
