What is a base jaw and what is its purpose compared to a complete jaw?

The base body (or base jaw, jaw body) is the lower part of the top jaw system — it slides in the chuck's guides and receives the upper insert (the actual jaw). The base body is purchased when you want to replace only the worn lower part or when you want to build a customized clamping system by mounting specific inserts (soft, hardened, special profile) on a standard base body. The base body alone does not clamp — it requires the corresponding upper insert.

Is this Ø 200 mm base body compatible with my chuck?

DK11 series: DIN 6350 connection with 11 bolts. Verify that the chuck has this connection before purchase. The Ø 200 mm size indicates the chuck diameter for which it is designed — not interchangeable between different sizes. Also verify that the number of fastening bolts of the base body matches that of the chuck.

Are the top inserts (top jaws) purchased separately?

Yes — the base body is designed to accommodate the top inserts of the STJ, TJ, DSTJ, DTJ series corresponding to the same size and connection. The inserts are purchased and replaced independently of the base body. Original spare parts available with 3–5 working days shipping. Customer support in Italian available.
