210 × 30 mm leather honing wheel — what is it used for and for which sharpening?

The leather honing wheel is the last stage of sharpening: it polishes and refines the cutting edge after grinding with an abrasive wheel. The leather with honing compound (green compound or similar) produces a "razor" edge — the cutting edge is smooth under the microscope instead of having the micro-indentations of the abrasive wheel. Necessary for tools that must cut without tearing the material: knives, chisels, woodturning tools. It does not replace sharpening with a grinding wheel — it is used afterwards.

Which abrasive paste is it used with?

With honing compound (green = chromium oxide, for sharpening; white/greasy = aluminum oxide, for fine polishing). Apply the paste to the leather surface before each session. The paste wears out and should be reapplied every 10-20 sharpenings. Do not use this wheel for roughing — it is only for finishing the edge.
