Thread cutting oil SF-TO / 500 ml

SF-TO cutting oil is a specific additive mineral oil for tapping and threading: it forms a stable lubricating film between the tap and the material, which reduces friction, dissipates the heat generated by the plastic deformation of the thread, and facilitates chip ejection. It is necessary on mild steel beyond M10, always on stainless steel, nodular cast iron, and titanium alloys. For aluminum, kerosene or specific aluminum oil can be used. It is not needed for plastic.

Apply with a brush or spray directly onto the tap and the hole before starting tapping. For deep holes (over 2.5 × diameter), reapply every 2–3 turns of the tap, periodically extracting to remove chips. The most common mistake is applying the oil only at the beginning — lubrication must be constant throughout the entire depth of the hole.

For manual tapping or with an electric threading machine in intermittent professional use (20–30 tapping operations per day), 500 ml typically lasts 3–6 months. For intensive use with a threading machine and integrated micro-spray system, consumption is greatly reduced (0.1–0.3 ml per tapping operation) — 500 ml is enough for thousands of operations.
