Frequently asked questions
How is the metric scale calibrated to the actual cutting line?
The self-adhesive scale is supplied separately. Mount the track on the top, make a test cut, and measure the distance between the cutting line and the front end of the fence. Cut the scale to that distance and glue it on: from that moment, the zero of the scale coincides with the actual cutting line.
The procedure is necessary because the distance between the edge of the track and the cutting line varies depending on the model of track saw used. Once calibrated, the fence does not require further adjustments as long as the same saw is used on the same top. If the saw is changed, recalibration must be repeated.
Is the flip-stop compatible with Festool tracks of any length?
Yes. The 1,100mm fence is independent of the track length: it is positioned at a convenient point between the middle and the distal end of the track. The cutting capacity with the stop active is 1,200mm, regardless of the mounted track length.
For cuts exceeding 1,200mm, the stop cannot be used: manual measurement or an optional second stop is required. UJK produces an additional flip-stop that can be purchased separately, the same model included in the UJK Precision Miter Gauge, which allows setting a second cutting position without removing the first stop.
What is the difference between this product and the Parf System Fence & Stop Kit?
The two products have distinct functions. The Parf System Fence & Stop Kit is a reference guide for positioning the workpiece on the MFT top, with 32mm spaced holes for the System 32 method. The Fence and Length Stop is a cutting stop for a track saw, with a metric scale and flip-stop calibrated to the actual cutting line.
In practice: the Parf System Fence is used to position and clamp the workpiece before cutting; the Fence and Length Stop is used to define the cutting length during the saw's pass. The two accessories are complementary and can be used simultaneously on the same MFT top.
Are the included bench dogs compatible with the holes of the original Festool MFT/3 top?
Yes. The included bench dogs have a standard 20mm diameter, compatible with all 20mm holes with 96mm spacing, including the Festool MFT/3 top. The sliding T-nuts fit into the T-slot of the fence for locking in position.
Alternatively to bench dogs, the fence can be attached to the track using UJK Dog Rail Clips or track clamps, without occupying holes in the top. This configuration is recommended when the top is completely occupied by the workpiece and available holes are limited.
Is it possible to add a second stop for two different cutting lengths?
Yes. UJK produces an additional flip-stop that can be purchased separately, the same model included in the kit. With two stops on the same fence, it is possible to set two different cutting lengths and switch between them by flipping the active stop without moving the fence.
This configuration is useful in repetitive production with pieces of two different lengths, for example, for posts and rails of furniture carcasses with different measurements. The additional flip-stop is available from Krollit as a separate accessory.
