Description

Güde GSZ 500/1000 Electric Chain Hoist – 1.6 kW Motor, 500–1000 kg, 12–6 m

The Güde GSZ 500/1000 hoist is an enhanced version of the 300/600 model for construction sites and workshops that require lifting heavy loads up to 1 tonne horizontally (beam suspension) and vertically (floor, scaffolding). Unlike manual hoists (risk of slipping, fatigue), the motorized system ensures constant speed and precise control: the 1.6 kW single-phase motor achieves stable pressure without power drops when lifting double the load of the previous model.

The return pulley system is a practical innovation: it doubles the capacity (500 → 1,000 kg) while maintaining the same 1.6 kW motor, simply by threading the rope through the pulley. The speed halves (10 → 5 m/min) but allows safe lifting of 1,000 kg — an industrial limit for light portable hoists. The 12 m steel rope divided into 2 sections (6 m effective for single lifting with pulley) allows application versatility: floors up to 6 meters high or a single heavy-load beam up to 12 meters. The automatic brake is a very high safety feature — if the power is interrupted, the load does not fall but remains suspended and locked by mechanical friction.

Who chooses it in Italy

Construction companies that perform lifting of heavy precast elements (steel beams, composite panels >500 kg) prefer it for its lifting speed (10 m/min without pulley) and stable motor power. Metal carpenters and light industry assembling steel structures >500 kg require it for precise control of a maximum load of 1,000 kg without oscillations. Construction machinery rental companies include it in their standard site equipment for intermediate load ranges (between manual hoists and fixed systems >2 tonnes). In the Krollit catalog, it represents the essential complement for construction sites that need intermediate motorized lifting without investing in industrial three-phase hoists.

After-sales support and spare parts

Güde supplies spare ropes, hooks, and return pulleys in 3–5 days from Austria. Krollit manages a spare parts warehouse in Italy. Routine maintenance: check rope lubrication before each use (apply light rope oil to joint points), monthly inspection of hook welding for cracks (replace if required), check control cable for insulation damage, clean motor body of dust. CE and GS TÜV certifications ensure Italian compliance.

Who is the Güde GSZ 500/1000 hoist suitable for?

Profile Suitable? Reason
Construction company / heavy prefabrication site Ideal 10 m/min speed without pulley covers rapid lifting of 500 kg elements. Single capacity of 500 kg covers 95% of standard wood and composite precast elements. 12 m rope covers floor heights up to 6-7 m. 1.6 kW motor ensures constant recovery of intermediate load.
Metal carpenter / light industry Ideal Return pulley doubles capacity to 1,000 kg for heavy steel plates. Precise control of 1,000 kg load at 5 m/min prevents structural oscillations. 32 kg weight transportable between workshops. Robust welding hook for assembly.
Construction machinery rental company / general contractor Adequate Single-phase 230V compatibility (site standard). GS TÜV certification meets insurance compliance. However, maximum capacity of 1,000 kg is a limit for continuous industrial lifting (>5 tonnes). For heavier loads, consider fixed three-phase hoists.

Not suitable for:
Continuous lifting >1,000 kg (1.6 kW motor insufficient, risk of thermal overload). Construction sites without stable 230V single-phase power supply (requires external generator). Undersized ropes for ultra-heavy materials (Ø5.5 mm rope is the limit for 1,000 kg mass with pulley). Lifting in permanently high humidity environments (IP 54 protection is secondary — prefer IP 65 protection).

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take for the hoist to lift 500 kg up to 12 meters?

10 m/min speed at 500 kg load (without pulley) allows 12 m lifting in: 12 m ÷ 10 m/min = approximately 1 minute and 12 seconds. However, check initial acceleration — the very first seconds might be slightly slower before motor stabilization.

If I activate the return pulley, do I lose speed and height?

Yes. The return pulley doubles capacity (500 → 1,000 kg) but halves speed (10 → 5 m/min) and height (12 → 6 m) because the rope is multiplied into 2 sections. This is a necessary trade-off: to lift 1,000 kg with a 1.6 kW motor, you must sacrifice speed and height. If speed is needed at 1,000 kg, a more powerful motor is required.

How do I mount the return pulley?

Procedure: (1) Securely lock the rope. (2) Thread the pulley onto the rope between the 2 hooks (one load, one return). (3) Tighten the pulley bracket bolts on the beam. (4) Check rope alignment (not crooked). Operation takes ~20 minutes, carefully. If in doubt, entrust to a specialized technician for safety checks.

Does the automatic brake work if the power fails?

Yes, that's its purpose. If there is a sudden power outage, the integrated spring brake mechanically locks the rope and the load remains suspended. Very high protection against falls. However, if power is off for >5 minutes, you will not be able to lower the load — require an external generator or entrust to a technician for manual brake release.

Can I use the hoist on a wooden beam?

Not recommended. The mounting bracket is designed for steel I-beams or tubular profiles that distribute the load evenly. Wood risks localized splitting under the bolt. If it's a wooden beam, entrust to a builder for structural static checks — it might be necessary to insert a steel distribution plate under the bolt.

What current does it draw during operation?

A 1.6 kW motor at 230V single-phase draws approximately 7–8 A at full load (500 kg standard, 6–7 A in light operation). A standard 10 A single-phase meter is sufficient but at the limit. If other 230V tools are operating simultaneously, there is a risk of overload — prefer a dedicated 16 A circuit.

How often should I service the automatic brake?

Annual servicing is recommended. Entrust to an authorized Güde technician to test the brake (check 1,000 kg load lock for 10 minutes). Cost ~€100–150 for servicing. If the hoist is used frequently (>150 cycles/month), consider semi-annual servicing.

Is the Ø5.5 mm rope strong enough for 1,000 kg?

Yes, if the return pulley is installed correctly. A Ø5.5 steel rope has a breaking load >1,000 kg (standard 4:1 safety margin). However, integrity depends on: lubrication maintenance, absence of rust, no visible mechanical damage. Inspect the rope monthly for cracks and corrosion.

Can I lift 750 kg (between 500 and 1,000)?

Yes. Without pulley: the motor can lift up to 500 kg at 10 m/min (capacity limit). With pulley: the motor can lift 500–1,000 kg at 5 m/min by varying the speed. At 750 kg with pulley, the speed will be ~6.7 m/min (interpolation). However, do not set load >500 kg without pulley — risk of motor overload.
