Frequently Asked Questions

What is a lathe faceplate and when is it used?

The Ø 170 mm faceplate (or disk platform) is mounted on the lathe spindle instead of the chuck. It allows for securing flat, irregular, or large-diameter workpieces that cannot be clamped with a standard chuck — using vises, clamps, and bolts in the radial slots of the faceplate. Used for machining flanges, disks, plates, and asymmetrical parts in eccentric turning.

Is this faceplate compatible with my Bernardo lathe?

This faceplate is specific for: Profi 300 V. Please check your lathe model before purchasing — the attachment (thread or ISO flange) must match exactly. Customer support available in Italian.

How do you balance the faceplate with the workpiece mounted?

An asymmetrically loaded faceplate creates imbalance — vibrations increase with speed. Before turning: mount the workpiece, start at low speed (50–100 rpm) checking for the absence of vibrations, then gradually increase. For series work or high speeds, use counterweights in the slots opposite the workpiece.
