What it is for

The graphite belt is inserted onto the support surface of the belt sander, between the fixed platen and the abrasive belt. The graphite reduces sliding friction, lowering the temperature generated during sanding — essential for materials that deform or burn with heat (aluminum, PVC, paints, plastic). Without a graphite belt, the abrasive belt overheats, losing efficiency and durability.

A graphite belt is a lubricating belt that is placed between the platen of a belt sander and the abrasive belt.
