Is this grinding wheel for HSS steel or HM carbide?

The Type A SDC diamond cup grinding wheel is for sharpening tungsten carbide (HM/TCT) tools — carbide cutters, drills with HM inserts, lathe tools with inserts. Synthetic diamond (SDC) is the only abrasive that effectively works carbide. Do not use a corundum grinding wheel on HM — it will wear out in a few minutes without results.

How do I mount this grinding wheel on the UWS 300/350?

The UWS grinding wheels are mounted on the machine's shaft using a clamping flange with a standard Ø 32 mm bore. Before mounting, check that the grinding wheel has no cracks (sound test: suspend the grinding wheel and tap it — it should emit a clear metallic sound, not dull). Tighten the flange with the torque indicated in the manual — do not overtighten to avoid stressing the grinding wheel. Customer service in Italian available.
