Frequently asked questions

Fabric belt vs. paper belt: when to choose fabric?

A fabric belt is more flexible, tear-resistant, and tolerant of curvature — suitable for curved surfaces, edges, pipes, and metalworking. A paper belt is stiffer and suitable for flat wood and plastic surfaces. For metal, fabric is always preferable: it better resists the heat generated by friction and does not tear with metal chips.

When is 150 grit used and on what materials?

150 grit is suitable for finishing metal and wood: final sanding, removing previous scratches, preparing for painting. Typical materials: stainless steel (finishing), aluminum, solid wood, MDF. Fine grit on metal: reduce pressure to avoid surface overheating. The electro-corundum (Al₂O₃) abrasive fabric in this series maintains its cutting ability longer than paper abrasive of the same grit.

Can the 685 x 50 mm roll belt be cut to size?

Yes — fabric roll belts can be cut with sturdy scissors or a utility knife. The length of the roll (50 m) allows belts of any length to be obtained. Always cut perpendicular to the belt's direction of travel to avoid detachment at the edges during use.

How can belt clogging on aluminum and plastic be avoided?

Aluminum: use belts with a semi-open bond (marked "semi-open coat") and, if possible, apply paraffin wax to the belt to reduce aluminum adhesion. Plastic: reduce speed and work intermittently to avoid overheating the material. A clogged belt does not abrade but only generates heat — it should be cleaned with a wire brush or replaced.
